IATO & Hotel Janpath launch Clean India Programme

Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) and Hotel Janpath, ITDC joined hands in taking a step towards the cleanliness drive “SWACHH BHARAT”- a mass movement by Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi.

The Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India has directed ITDC and all travel associations to organize a Clean India Programme on 2nd October 2014 in their respective organizations. India Tourism and Development Corporation (ITDC) and Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) being the tourism partner of the Ministry of Tourism today launched “CLEAN INDIA” programme at the Janpath Hotel. In the initiative surrounding areas and back lane of the hotel which are often frequented by tourists and require constant cleaning were selected as the venue for the cleanliness drive. All the members of the concerned organisation have been directed to show their full fledged participation in the program. Speaking on the occasion Subhash Goyal, President, IATO said “Tourism is our industry that needs the least amount of investment yet brings the highest returns in the shortest time. To succeed, the industry requires a political will at the highest level. It also needs a clean destination.

Hon’ble Prime Minister’s call to create a “Clean India of Gandhiji’s dream” is also our objective and IATO has taken this on Mission Mode”. He also added that “Mission Swachh Bharat is our prime focus and we have already taken up the task of clean toilets at the World Heritage Monuments at Qutub Complex, Humayun’s Tomb and Red Fort with support of ASI and have been given to Sulabh International to maintain the cleanliness of these toilets. Constant synergy between the Govt. and IATO will continue in making the mission a big success”. Present on the occasion were Sujata Thakur, General Manager, Corporate Marketing and Sale (ITDC), Subhash Goyal, President, IATO, R.K. Sharma, General Manager, Hotel Janpath and other esteemed members of IATO and Hotel Janpath. R.K. Sharma, General Manager, Hotel Janpath, ITDC said “We are extremely proud of undertaking such an initiative and lending a helping hand towards this cleanliness drive. We will contribute all our efforts towards the mission of our Prime Minister for a cleaner India”.
