Sabre expands development centre in India to accelerate product innovation, development and global operations
Employee base doubles and still growing!
Sabre Corporation (NASDAQ: SABR), a leading technology provider to the global travel and tourism industry, has significantly expanded its Bangalore development center – the second expansion in less than a year – to help scale global operations, enable faster delivery of solutions, seamlessly integrate products and enhance time to market.
Opened in 2005 with just nine employees, the Bangalore centre now has 1400 employees, double that of last year. Fueled by the company’s global growth, the centre supports multiple technology functions for Sabre such as product development, enterprise data and analytics, operations research, and customer-centric functions – customer care and support, customer implementation and consulting.
“The expansion of the Bangalore development center reflects the strength of our local product and technology capabilities and, more importantly, our company’s desire to deliver more industry-leading technology to our global airline, hotel and travel agency customers faster than ever before,” said Shail Maniar, vice president and managing director, Sabre India. “The people who join our company play an important role in transforming the travel industry and we will continue to look for people who are passionate about delivering these innovations to our travel industry customers.”
The Bangalore centre, which already plays a major role in developing industry-leading solutions for airline, recently expanded to build technology products for hotels, including Central Reservation Systems (CRS), and Property Management Systems (PMS) – a cloud based operations management system for hotels. The team also supports Sabre’s global CRS services agreements, and global operations functions for Sabre Travel Network’s more than 425,000 travel agents globally.
The newly expanded site features state-of-the-art workspace areas and innovation zones to support collaboration and engagement across teams.
“These new spaces helped us achieve great results with our new Product Life Cycle (PLC) strategy, which includes enterprise adoption of Agile,” said Maniar. “This, along with the wide range of educational and development programs, as well as extracurricular activities and benefits, has enabled us to attract some of the best talent in the industry.”
