14.4% growth in Foreign Tourist Arrivals in November 2017 over last year

56.2% growth in foreign Tourist Arrivals on e-Tourist visa in November, 2017 over November, 2016 

Ministry of Tourism compiles monthly estimates of Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs) and FTAs on e-Tourist Visa on the basis of Nationality-wise, Port-wise data received from Bureau of Immigration (BOI).

The following are the important highlights regarding FTAs and FTAs on e-Tourist Visa during the month of November, 2017:

Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs)

  • The number of FTAs in November, 2017 was 10.05 lakh as compared to FTAs of 8.78 lakh in November, 2016 and 8.16 lakh in November, 2015.
  • The growth rate in FTAs in November, 2017 over November, 2016 was 14.4%, compared to 7.6% in November, 2016 over November, 2015.
  • FTAs during the period January- November 2017 were 90.01 lakh with a growth of 15.6% over same period of the previous year, compared to FTAs of 77.83 lakh with a growth of 9.4% in January- November, 2016 over January- November, 2015.
  • The percentage share of Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs) in India during November,  2017 among the top 15 source countries was highest from Bangladesh (16.77%) followed by USA (14.77%), UK (9.93%), Russian Fed. (4.41%), Canada (4.39%), Australia (3.96%), Malaysia (3.50%), Germany (2.90%), France (2.51%),Sri Lanka (2.32%), China (2.26%),  Singapore (2.04%), Japan (2.03%), Thailand (1.87%), and Rep. of Korea (1.31%).
  • The percentage share of Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs) in India during November 2017 among the top 15 ports was highest at Delhi Airport (29.76%) followed by Mumbai Airport (17.20%), Haridaspur Land Check Post (8.40%), Chennai Airport (5.78%), Bengaluru Airport (5.44%), Dabolim (Goa) Airport, (5.37%), Kolkata Airport (4.62%), Hyderabad Airport (3.02%), Cochin Airport (2.88%), Ahmadabad Airport (2.46%),Gede Rail Land Check Post (1.91%),Sonauli Land Check Post   (1.88%),Trichy Airport (1.46%), Ghojadanga Land Check Post (1.29%) and Trivandrum Airport (1.28%).

Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs) on e-Tourist Visa

  • During the month of November, 2017, a total of 2.14 lakh foreign tourists arrived on e-Tourist Visa as compared to 1.37 lakh during the month of November, 2016 registering a growth of 56.2%.
  • During January- November 2017, a total of 14.57 lakh foreign tourists arrived on e-Tourist Visa as compared to 9.17 lakh during January- November 2016, registering a growth of 58.8%.
  • The percentage share of top 15 source countries availing e- Tourist Visa facilities during  November, 2017 was as follows: UK (17.1%), USA (11.6%), Russian Federation (6.6%), France (5.7%), Germany (4.8%), China (4.8%), Australia (4.5%), Canada (4.3%), Korea (Rep. of) (2.6%), Thailand (2.4%), Italy (2.4%), Singapore (2.1%), Oman (1.8%),Spain (1.8%) and Netherlands (1.5%).

The percentage share of top 15 ports in foreign tourist arrivals on e-Tourist Visa during November, 2017 was as follows:-

New Delhi Airport (44.5%), Mumbai Airport (18.7%), Dabolim (Goa) Airport (10.1%), Chennai Airport (5.8%), Kochi Airport (5.4%), Kolkata Airport (3.6%), Hyderabad Airport (2.9%), Trivandrum Airport (2.5%), Amritsar Airport (1.3%), Ahmadabad Airport (1.2%), Gaya Airport (1.1%),  Jaipur Airport (0.8%), Tirchy Airport (0.5%), Lucknow Airport (0.5%) and Calicut Airport (0.3%)
