Punjab Tourism positions Amritsar as convenient MICE destination

Apart from flaunting Patiala and Roopnagar as emerging tourist detsinations, PHTPB has taken an initiative to connect the travel trade suppliers of the state to the prospective buyers outside the state.

Punjab Heritage and Toursim Promotion Board (PHTPB) has opened a platform in a bid to link the travel trade suppliers of Punjab with the potential buyers across the state. The travel suppliers of Punjab are travel groups, hotel chains, farm tourism operators and ground handlers in the state tourism industry.

Punjab is developing at a pace in the vertical of MICE travel. The city of Amritsar with sound global and domestic flight connectivity, railway links and an array of five-star haunts like Radisson, Hyatt, Holiday Inn and Ramada that have a large room inventory and space for conference facilities figures high as a prospective MICE destination.

Navjotpal Singh Randhawa, Director, Department of Tourism, Punjab and Additional Chief Executive Officer, PHTPB, said, “We are making ourselves visible at MICE-related events and promotional platforms. We will continue to pitch our focus on West Bengal, Maharashtra, Gujarat, New Delhi and National Capital Region in the domestic market. Chennai and Bengaluru form our new, investment markets. Bengaluru has an immense potential while Chennai with its high GDP growth coupled with the industrial and Information Technology hub and the growing willingness of its residents to travel will reap sound dividend to our state. The United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Europe and Australia are our core tourism markets on the global frontier.”
