IndiGo pronounced ‘CAPA Global Low Cost Carrier of the Year’ at World Aviation Summit 2015
Award bestowed at the 2015 CAPA Aviation Awards for Excellence hosted in Helsinki
IndiGo, India’s largest and fastest growing airline has been conferred upon with the CAPA Global Low Cost Carrier of the Year award at the 2015 CAPA Aviation Awards for Excellence, held in Helsinki, a part of CAPA’s 2015 World Aviation Summit. Aditya Ghosh, President IndiGo received the award from Peter Harbison, Executive Chairman CAPA – Centre for Aviation, at a gala dinner hosted by Travelport.
This award is a testimony to IndiGo’s continued success and the consistent strategy that has defined its unmatched performance, year after year. IndiGo was selected by the judging panel to for its ability to thrive in an extremely challenging market. The judges were particularly impressed by the execution of IndiGo’s leadership team.
Now in its thirteenth year, CAPA’s Aviation Awards for Excellence is one of the most prestigious accolades in the world airline industry and are a global benchmark for airline excellence. The awards are intended to reward airlines and airports that are not only successful but have also provided industry leadership in an always changing environment. A total of only eight awards were given out this year.
Congratulating IndiGo, Harbison, Executive Chairman, CAPA – Centre for Aviation, said, “In less than 10 years IndiGo has grown to become India’s largest domestic airline with a market share of close to 40%. Despite operating in a very challenging market, IndiGo has consistently reported profits for each of the last seven years, including a record profit in FY2015.
