Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel

New York City offers a host of comfortable and enjoyable stays for the business traveller. How then does one decide where to stay? It’s a happy problem to be spoilt for choice, no doubt, but even amongst the myriad hotel options in Manhattan the Sheraton New York Times Square is ideal for those travelling for work.

Location: Located in Midtown Manhattan at Times Square, near Broadway and other city attractions, in one of the most iconic buildings in the Big Apple the hotel captures the ever-changing spirit of the city and proudly boasts of one of the most central addresses in the city.

Room Facilities: I visited the property this summer and stayed in the superior guest room. I was pleased to find that the room had been recently renovated. It was neat and tidy, with a premium flat-screen television, and a comfy lounge chair. In spite of being a 1700 room property the service was attentive and efficient. My only problem was that the room was rather compact, only about 221sq ft. But this is a problem I face in almost all properties in the city. However, I did visit a suite and it was double the size of my standard room and included a separate living and dining area.

Conference Facilities: New York is the global centre of economic activity. The Sheraton New York is bang in the heart of the city and this makes it a convenient, prestigious and sought after meeting and event location. The multiple state-of-theart ballrooms offer a versatile function space that is ideal for conferences, incentive events and other social events for up to 1700 guests. In addition, the various well-designed meeting rooms can be adapted to suit a variety of events for up to 180 guests. Moreover, The conference venues feature comprehensive services and facilities, including high-speed Internet access and advanced audiovisual conferencing equipment, and the attentive, proactive and resourceful staff is well equipped to provide all the technical support required to ensure the success of any event.

Bars and Restaurants: Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel features four convenient onsite dining options. For casual dining, the Hudson Market restaurant which transforms into the Hudson Market Bistro at night, is the way to go. Featuring authentic American-style cuisine in a warm and comfortable yet sophisticated urban-style ambience, the Hudson Market is a hit with the relaxed vacationers as well as the busy business travelers. Meanwhile, guests looking for a quick grab-and-go option need look no further than the Link Cafe, which serves fresh juices, snacks and Starbucks coffee. Post three 3pm the Lobby Lounge and Library Bar offers wine, beer, cocktails and speciality appetizers. The fried calamari and home-made soups are tried and tested crowd pleasers. Finally, because of its location a multitude of amazing dining options are only a stones throw away.

Leisure Facilities: The hotel’s 4000 square foot gym has all the latest cardio, strength training and weight training equipment. Personal training and private yoga classes are available by appointment only and are chargeable. You can also enjoy up-to 10 varieties of professional massages, including Swedish, Deep Tissue and Hot Stone, at the fitness centre.

Conclusion: While the rooms are on the smaller side, the quality and service is first-rate. The property has an unbeatable location and offers superb business meeting facilities. Over all I enjoyed my stay and would recommend it to any business traveller and mice planner.
